Pamela Z CURRENT PROJECTS
Pamela Z is in the process of recording a solo CD which should be completed before the end of this year. The CD will be on Starkland Recordings, the label which has already released two of the pieces on a compilation called "From A to Z".
PARTS OF SPEECH:
Pamela Z was awarded a San Francisco Arts Commission grant to create a radio piece called "Parts of Speech". This piece is based on a performance piece of the same name which she created in 1994, and will be broadcast nationally by satellite in New American Radio's upcoming season.
Pamela Z is one of the artists currently in residence at Xerox's Palo Alto Research Center in the PARC Artist In Residence Program (PAIR). This is a program in which artists are paired with researchers to do exploration concerning technology and the arts. Pamela Z is working with Michael Black, a researcher working in motion studies and gesture recognition and anthropologist, David Levy who does studies concerning work practice and documents.
Pamela Z is teaches a series of sound and performance workshops at The LAB in San Francisco. The upcoming workshop is for low-income women, and will cover alternative performance and composition techniques along with work in The LAB's digital SoundLab using Digidesign sound editing programs.
